What Is A Foster Family Agency?
- Foster Family Agencies (FFA's) offer specialized foster care to children whose needs are greater then can be met in a traditional or County foster care program
- FFA's provide foster families with a higher level of support services which enables them to successfully care for a child who may be experiencing more behavioral or emotional difficulties
- FFA's are private and non-profit, and licensed by the State to recruit, train and certify specialized foster parents
- Foster parents receive extensive pre-service and ongoing training
- Families are screened, and children are carefully matched to each home
- Fewer children are placed in each home, so that children receive more individualized attention
- Foster parents have weekly in-home visits by a professional social worker which the FFA provides
- Foster children receive more extensive counseling, support, and intervention services
- Due to the greater needs of FFA foster children, monthly-financial reimbursement is often significantly higher
